Philly City Hall

I know, I know, you’re probaly like “so where’s all the good stuff you’re making?” I promise that next week I’ll have some photos of my makings, so you can see what I’m working on. This weekend I will not be galavanting around the East Coast, I’ll be buckled down and tied to my work… so in the meantime, enjoy the photo of the beautiful city hall in Philadelphia!

Atlantic City, New Jersey

This weekend, in addition to visiting Philly, I also saw the “armpit” of New Jersey, according to my hostess, Melinda… ATLANTIC CITY! And while this is the least glitzy photo from Atlantic City, click on it to see a few of the Taj Mahal… vegas-esque if I do say so myself. Now, back to the grind. I have to study for a 6-page midterm on Wednesday, as well as cut out a bunch of patterns and leather… but the good news is the weather is superb, even a bit chilly, only to slowly creep up to hot again la†er this week.

Here I am in New York. I forgot to mention a few benefits of humidity… for people like me with bone-straight, fine hair, the humidity is like a free volumizer for your hair! Love that!

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich Before

Originally uploaded by FunCupcake.

Warning, if you’re vegetarian, and I know some of you are, you’ll think this looks disgusting… but it was damn good, a fine meal at 2:00 a.m. after doing some drinking at the bars in Philadelphia. The cheese is under the steak, yum! See the flickr photo album to see the after photo… very little left.

I’m not catholic, but seeing this statue made me happy and peaceful. She is surrounded by roses, but I had to get a closer shot and cut the roses out. She’s beautiful!

If you would have told me over 3 years ago, when I bought this book in Portland at Fabric Depot, that I would someday live in New York and take the author’s Accessory class, I would have said “yah right.” But guess what, I am! I bought this book over 3 years ago, and it turns out, the head of the Accessories Department here at FIT, Ellen Goldstein, co-wrote it! I’m taking her class three days a week!! Wha? I love when a plan comes together, or you get that sense of coincedence that’s just to coincedental for coincendence’s sake! (Now you try to say coincedence three times in a sentence….)

This is my home away from home for now, we’re on the 12th floor. There’s so much I want to photograph, but I just got the camera and now I have to run to my 6pm class. Tomorrow, I’m out there capturing it all!

The Camera Arrived!

fresh juice

Originally uploaded by FunCupcake.

I saw this little stenciled sign at a convenience store by school. I ducked into it to escape the wild Thunderstorm and low and behold, there was fresh juice! It looks so raw, like, do you want to drink the fresh juice? It reminds me of something I’d see in Mexico… I didn’t get any juice, but I went back to take a photo just as soon as my camera arrived.

Most Disgusting Subway event yet

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

I don’t even know why I am going to write about this, but I am. This afternoon on the subway I watched the hugest man I’ve ever seen, toss his cookies all over, projecting at least 8 feet onto the unsuspecting girl nearest, all over her perfectly-pressed chinos, smart black tote-bag, pastel pink collared shirt, and onto her partially-bare flip-flop feet. But don’t think for a moment others were left out, it reached many people. It was absolutely disgusting, especially given that it’s 94 degrees today with humidity around 60%, and the subway was packed with the teenagers getting out of school. It was truly horrible, and had I not been in a heat-induced fog, I might have reacted by doing just what he had. I had originally intended to come home for lunch and eat in peace, but now I don’t think eating is the best thing! Hope you’re not reading this over your lunch!!!!! gross…. And in other notes, I will be getting a camera anyday now, so although this is something I would NOT have photographed, there are so many things I’ve made a note to photograph so be ready for an onslaught of photos!!!
