OK I took about 90 photos in my few days in the UK, and I do not expect anyone to sift through all of them, well except for Mom! Never fear, I will post a few of my favorites over the next week or so…

This one, taken in Wells, speaks for itself! Or does it? Is it Art? Graffiti? Graffiti Art?

I take the 7 subway line from Queens to Grand Central Station every morning. Most of the subway ride is above ground, and there are spectacular views of the area surrounding the PS1 Museum of Modern Art Queens annex. It looks like graffiti-mural village. I will have to get off and wander around and take some proper photos, and capture the murals and fat (or phat) letters that are above and beside and all around you.

I spent Easter in the UK and took lots of photos, drank lots of pints and cider, ate lots of fish-n-chips and mushy peas, and soaked up all the british accents I could! Fun times, indeed.

Goodbye East Village Living…

Sunday I moved from the East Village to Queens. I still live on the fifth floor at the new place, but instead of a walk-up I now have an elevator. And a new roomate, and a room of my own, and instead of walking out of my apartment and seeing puke (from drunks from the bar 2-doors down and the countless NYU college students roaming the area) and dog poo from the vet’s residents next door, and litter everywhere and blaring sirens and honking cabs and lots of east village punks, I now walk to the subway along a tree-lined street of brick houses, and hear birds chirping and see kids going to school. And did I mention the elevator?

diner

I took this photo in a dimly lit diner the other night. There are a lot of cool old diners here in New York that have turned into nightspots. It’s funny to be in what would normally be a place for breakfast, except in these modern times, you can now go and sit in a dimly lit diner, order a cocktail and maybe some nibbles (not steak and eggs mind you, but more like coconut shrimp or something) and listen to cute small asian girl dj’s spin nu shooz and hip-hop! Anway, I couldn’t stop looking at the ceiling the whole time at these light fixtures! I was mesmerized! And now, let them mesmerize you!
