Yeah! I saw Roots Manuva last night at Cielo in the Meatpacking District and it was grrrreat! Of course I have always loved music, but recently listening to music holds an even greater importance than ever before in my life, perhaps because I spend 3 hours a day commuting and my ipod is my companion from home to subway to commuter train to bus to work, and back again the other way. So along with David Bowie and Steely Dan and Diplo, Roots Manuva is in heavy rotation on my ipod and I was thrilled to discover he was in town, and I could hear him live! And even if I cannot go to all of the great shows that come to NYC, it’s really nice to know they are going on around me. It’s cool to walk by the Apollo theatre in Harlem and check the marquee and dream about seeing Roberta Flack or the Gorillaz!
