2007 Wrap-up
Friday, December 21st, 2007Well! We’ve had 3 snow storms in the past 8 days, dumping more snow here in New England this past week or so, than all of last season. So… things have been slick, delayed but beautiful and amazingly festive! We are going to some holiday parties this weekend, then it’s time to cook, eat, drink and celebrate Christmas and the New Year with friends and family!
Last year I put together a little 2007 ‘Creative Goals’ visual resolution of sorts… While I didn’t quite accomplish everything on it, it did help me focus on what is important to me, and that is creating my own art. And I think 2007 was a really productive year for me both creatively, and altruistically. Throughout all the changes I have continued making marks, whether involved or quick! I just compiled a thumbnail of my drawings from 2007, and was surprised to see that I did actually get in at least 52 sketches/drawings! My goal was something hand-drawn once a week, and with 52 weeks in the year, I did it! Some are fully-realized drawings, but many are just color/line/compositional quick sketches. Good enough for me! I was also fortunate to particpate in Renegade craft fair, and am continuing to sell my wares at the Renegade Handmade shop in Chicago, which is great. I learned this year, I love making stuff, I don’t really like the marketing and selling of it, so it’s great to hook up with a reputable venue so my stuff goes somewhere. I met some new artist friends here in New England, and landed a job designing fun product alongside great people, which makes me happy. I have all that I need and I am very thankful for the bright lights in my life. It is the first time, in forever it seems, that I feel like I could keep doing what I’m doing for quite a while now. I have been the queen of changing something at least every year and half (if not my hair color every 4 months) however with age and experience I am learning and accepting that wherever you go, there you are! I am happy where I am, and with who I am. And I suppose just feeling more settled with age and a new life.
Here is a round-up of some of my sketches and drawings from 2007.

Thank you all for your friendship and support over the past few years ! I hope all your wishes and dreams come true with the new year. Hug your loved ones, laugh with your friends, eat, drink and be merry, and if you can, go ahead and risk it all to pursue what makes you happy! You’ll never regret it, I promise!
