NYC weather forecast
Ehhhh, well that was a nice two days of upper 60 degree weather! Now I guess it’s time for snow again! Back to winter-wear.

We just got these samples back, I love seeing my print patterns developed and in the details of my footwear designs! I designed the apple print as well as the shoes. Don’t wear the patent peep-toe sneaks in the snow though!

These strappy little numbers will perk you right up!

Ok a little sassy peep-toe patent wedge with cute buckle detail. We all need a pair of these!

Not all the prints we use are of my original design, this one was a nice plaid fabric we turned into a screenprint for a kids rainboot.

Working on more print patterns…

I also had another inspired dream but have not drawn it up, yet. I sketched out the idea but had other work to do first.

I love granny smith green apples more than anything. I could eat one every day and never get sick of them! Tart, crisp, sour… Yum! I think this would look good on a big rubber rain boot.

I have a small side project going on, I am doing some print patterns for some wellington (rubber rain) boots for a freelance project. I sortof miss doing graphic design work, I really love using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. I did this enlarged argyle but you can also see the smaller print with stripes if you click on this to see what else I made up.

More Japanese delights

I also picked up three transparent, graphic folders at the Kinokuniya Japanese Bookstore in Portland. I’ve updated my flickr photo set of “Patterns” since I seem to take a lot of photos and be drawn to patterns! I think I am realizing that I have strong motivation to design and draw patterns, so am working on putting together some pieces to build up a portfolio. I think it is why I love to buy and hoard fabric, for the patterns that give me such a delight! I swear though, any bad day I have at work, and I look at these $3.00 folders and wonder how they can bring me such happiness. It’s the simple things, people, the simple things! Oh, and just because I know you are on the edge of your seats following our power crisis here in Queens, we still DO NOT HAVE REGULAR POWER! It could take months, but at least, we are hooked up to a generator so have the use of power for now. This makes 123 heat index weather, somewhat tolerable!

Oh. And I added an “About Me” page over to the right next to the photo links. It’s kinda hard to sum yourself up, so let me know if I missed anything to terribly important okay.

It’s like a Jungle sometimes…

We searched high and low for a suitable jungle print to use in our August 2007 footwear line. Couldn’t find one, even the swimsuit department at Bloomingdales lacked a proper jungle print! So, I found some tropical leaves and incorporated them into an idea for a jungle print, and drew this up. Of course it would be colored, perhaps a lovely midtone green for the Monstera/Philodendren leaf, and a nice earthy brown for some vines, and maybe a spot of orange for the bird of paradise… Not sure if we’ll use it, but I do like the exercise of assembling the elements and drawing it up. Can you imagine the possibilities for how the print will be used? Linings? Fabric or Canvas uppers? The possibilities…

Porfolio in progress

So it may be perceived, as most of my recent posts have been about going out and having fun, that I’m solely a lady of leisure these days, not doing a lick of work. But you see, I am doing a bit of drawing, developing a collection of footwear and handbags, as well as designing surface patterns. When I finish scanning the other drawings, I’ll put ‘em up for your viewing pleasure! We’re headed to Portland tomorrow, then I’ll be in San Diego for a few days next week.
