coloring book!
I finally designed and produced a coloring book! I am so excited about it, please check it out here and you can buy it for $12 (which includes shipping in the US!) Coloring is a very meditative process, relaxing and fun. The book contains 25 pages of original illustrations, a color front and back cover, and the whole thing is spiral bound. This is definitely a book for all ages!

Back from Chicago

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

I’m back from Chicago! It was a fabulous weekend, great weather, logistics went smoothly, and I did well at the fair selling my stuff, meeting people, and enjoying the time in general! Check out some photos here

And a big hello to my new friends who stopped by the booth! Soon www.funcupcake.com will be a website devoted to my art, with a link to this blog. But for now, here are a few links to help you navigate around. Here’s a link to my etsy shop, which I will be updating with new merchandise this week. As well as links to photos of my drawings and art! I am also selling some of my wares at the lovely Renegade Handmade store in Chicago. And finally, here’s a link to my “bio” or “about me” page. I have so many new ideas to get working on, it was a very inspirational trip! I had some of those prophetic visual dreams too… and I have some new pens in some fantastic colors. Yay!

Hee hee! The magnets came and they are adorable! I cannot wait to put the packaging together for them. I will also be putting them up in my Etsy shop. I am super busy at work right during the back-to-school time, and now must go watch Top Chef! More, later!

Hello, again

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

I took a few photos walking around near Symphony Hall in downtown Boston, bordering on the South End.

I got some of the things I’ve been waiting for in the mail… business cards via flickr and moo. Slices of my illustrations on the back, a random assortment, and the basic info on the front. I was going to go with the standard printed business cards, but the printing costs were crazy. But I’m extremely happy with how these turned out, really professional and super cute, all the way from London. Also, I got some sticker books with my illustrations, which are so fun. Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, I have to admit, I’m a huge fan of the Sanrio stuff, and this just makes my day to have my very own stickers!!

I’m waiting for some seriously adorable magnets from Button Arcade and also some custom printed mousepads with my illustrations, from My Favorite Mirror. I love using independent businesses! The customer service is fantastic and of course, it feels great for one small business to help other small businesses. Tomorrow it’s off to the local screenprinters to have T-shirts and Bags silkscreened!

Also, I noticed that the “vendor” links are up on the Renegade Craft Fair site. Click here and then click on “vendor” to see them, can you find mine? My logo links to my etsy site. Also I did a quick ad for the brochure they hand out.

Ok. Back to work… I’ve got a sign/tablecloth to stitch for my booth, an adult coloring book to layout, and some cool image transfers to work on.

Magnets to sell
It was really fun to design these magnets! They are like buttons (pins) but with a magnet on the back. Part promotional item, part product for sale! Can’t wait to see how they turn out.

Renegade Craft Fair - Chicago

Chicago Renegade Craft Fair
Chicago Renegade Craft Fair
I am so excited to announce that funcupcake will be at the Renegade Craft fair in Chicago this year, September 15th & 16th! I will be sharing a booth with my good friend Tara who designs and makes these innovative and adorable, bike-friendly accessories to wear! We are honored that we were chosen out of over 400 applicants for a spot to display and sell our handmade wares in a fun, street-fair atmosphere in Chi town! I have only been to the Chicago airport, never to the city itself. You might remember these photos on funcupcake in previous posts about the Brooklyn Renegade Craft Fairs that I attended in 2005 & 2006. A fun and creative environment full of hard-working do-it-yourself’ers!

My mind is swirling about this opportunity to present a collection of funcupcake-wares. Some projects already in the works, that will also be available for sale in my online shop include; screenprinted T-shirts of my illustrations, more colored, archival prints like this one, greeting cards and stationary sets with my drawings, some fun ‘zines, screenprinted tote bags, and whatever else the funcupcake handmade factory comes up with between now and then! I have a calendar design in mind, as well as some special stuffed plush in the making!

Tara lives in Portland, Oregon and I’m out here in Boston, so we’ll fly into Chicago, meet up and scurry around to find our hotel, rent our tables and chairs, set up our booths, and spend the weekend setting up, selling, tearing down, etc, etc. Should be a fun albeit busy weekend! I know that craft fairs are hard work, but I also know we’ll make the best of it and have a lot of fun!
