It’s definitely Winter here in NY. We had some nice days in the 50’s, but it’s been back down in the 20’s, even snowing over the weekend. However, after being here for the whole humid summer (the temperature dropped as soon as I left, of course) and then coming back into Winter, I missed the Fall season! I missed the season where boots come out and they don’t have to be performance boots! I am so looking forward to spending a Spring and Fall in NY, of course for the climate, but also for the fashion and life that it allows. Well for now I can just draw and imagine it! Here’s dreaming of boots for next fall.

Doodlin’

These types of drawings are hot right now. I didn’t know that when I doodled it about two month ago or so. Then I went to a trend presentation put on in L.A. by WGSN, and lo and behold, I was trendy and I didn’t even know it. The presentation forecasted Apparal and Accessory Design trends, and doodle style (like you used to do on your binder in school) are big. I do notice them here and there on some juniors apparel, the hand-drawn look is in… but anyways, sometimes sketching patterns and doodles can be as fun as knitting. No expectations, and the chance to use fun symbols and lines and stuff that in other cases need to make sense.

birdsketches

I sketched many birds to prepare for my reduction of them, into modern birds. Here you can see some of the sketches that helped me reduce them to just a few shapes.

The scanner is up and running and I’m going through my sketchbook to scan various drawings of both art and fashion and design work, in preparation to get my portfolio show-ready. More later!
